In the Summer of 1956 Barrie Sheffield, after many years of experience acquired working in the furniture industry, realised an ambition and opened his own business selling beds, mattresses and pillows. The County Sleep Shop was born and still remains at its original site at the bottom of the Wyle Cop.

The selling of cots and cot mattresses kept the 'sleep' theme perpetuating and an almost natural progression into the selling of nursery goods evolved. The business today is run by Barrie Sheffield's 2 sons, Clive and Scott and their wives Karen and Janet, culminating in nearly 100 years of experience between them -a truly family business.

2006 saw the business celebrate its 50th anniversary and the commitment to build upon what has been achieved over the last 6 decades is as great as ever.

Mon/Tues/Weds/Fri/Sat  9.30am - 5.30pm

Thurs  - 9.30 am - 2.00 pm

 Sunday  - Closed
